கார்ப்பரேட் நிறுவனங்களுக்காக, மக்கள் மீது துப்பாக்கி காட்ட கூடாது என சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது

தூத்துக்குடி துப்பாக்கிச்சூட்டில் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு தமிழக அரசு கூடுதல் இழப்பீடு வழங்குவது குறித்து பரிசீலிக்க வேண்டும் என சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றம் தமிழக அரசுக்கு உத்தரவு பிறப்பித்துள்ளது.

கடந்த 2018ம் ஆண்டு நடந்த இச்சம்பவம் ஜனநாயகத்தின் மீது விழுந்த வடு எனக் கூறிய நீதிபதிகள், கார்ப்பரேட் நிறுவனங்களுக்காக, மக்கள் மீது துப்பாக்கி காட்ட கூடாது. கார்ப்பரேட் நிறுவனங்கள், அரசில் இவ்வளவு ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்த அனுமதிக்க கூடாது. 

The court directed the NHRC to report the steps taken to find a logical conclusion to the issue based on the report of its investigation division.

The Madras High Court also orally observed that firing upon the innocent public during the 2018 agitation was a scar on Indian democracy.

The Madras High Court on Monday directed the authorities concerned to drop all the cases registered against the protesters involved in the anti-Sterlite agitation in 2018, in which 13 persons were killed in alleged police firing, and ensure their future prospects.

கடந்த 2018 ஆம் ஆண்டு தூத்துக்குடி ஸ்டெர்லைட் ஆலைக்கு எதிராக போராடியவர்கள் மீது நடத்தப்பட்ட துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டில் 13 பேர் குண்டுகளுக்கு இரையாகிப்போனர். இந்நிலையில், இத்துப்பாக்கிச் சூட்டை தாமாக விசாரிக்க முன்வந்த தேசிய மனித உரிமைகள் ஆணையம், ஆணையத்தின் புலனாய்வுத்துறை அறிக்கையின் படி வழக்கை முடித்து வைத்தது. 

Urging the State to ensure there was no repeat of such an incident, the Bench observed that while the protest might not have been legal or legitimate, citizens could not be fired at on behalf of a corporate body. In its order, the court asked the government to "go the extra mile" and "be seen to be with the families".

Taking a note that the CBI is also probing the case, the court said, “The matter should be brought to its logical end, as expeditiously as possible, to give a meaningful closure to the matter, and the circumstances in which firing had to be resorted to against unarmed citizens must come out in the report.”

The Madras high court on Monday said that the investigation into the police firing during anti-Sterlite protests in May 2018, that killed 13 persons in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district, should come to its logical end.
