Madurai: Tension prevailed in Crime Branch area on Tuesday when functionaries belonging to Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam staged a protest in connection with Babri Masjid demolition anniversary.

When some of the protesters attempted to fly a drone, police prevented them and the functionaries tried to stage a road roko. Police pacified the protesters .

Earlier during the day, Social Democratic Party of India staged protest on Chinnakadai Street in which around 1,000 people participated. The party observes the demolition day as Anti-Fascism Day. State executive committee member Mujibur Rahman presided over the protest. VCK deputy general secretary Kaniamuthan, NTK state coordinator S Vetrikumaran and People’s Watch director Henri Tiphagne participated.

Muslim outfits under the banner OF Aneedhikethirana Kootamaippu also announced that they would lay siege to RSS office at Mahaboobpalayam. However, police denied them permission.
