The October 21 directive warns of action against private organisations if they use the words ‘human rights’ in their name or display them on vehicles.
Tamil Nadu DGP C Sylendra Babu has drawn the ire of human rights organisations over his October 21 order warning of legal action against private organisations if they use the words “human rights” in their name or display them on vehicles.
Madurai: The encounter of a prime suspect in the constable killing case in Chennai evoked wile celebrations among many police personnel with many of them posting a series of messages and photos in social media.
Strongly condemning the celebration by the police, human rights defender Henri Tiphagne of People's Watch said the police are disciplined force and disciplinary action should be taken against those identifying themselves as police and indulging in celebrating encounters.
People’s Watch, committed to preservation, promotion and defence of human rights, unequivocally condemns the attack on Kannadiga establishments in different parts of Tamil Nadu as well as the attack on Tamils in Karnataka and especially the burning of over 40 KPN buses in Bengaluru – in both states by persons who have the least respect for the rule of law.
