Madurai activist moves court seeking protection under Witness Protection Scheme

A Madurai-based activist facing threat from quarry operators has filed a petition before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking a direction to police to provide adequate protection to him and his family under the Witness Protection Scheme.

Demanding to uphold the principles of social justice and inclusivity in appointment of judges to Madras High Court, senior advocates headed by former Madras High Court Judge Justice D. Hariparanthaman raised slogans and started a signature campaign on district court premises here on Saturday.
