Madurai: The Madras high court on Monday asked the CB-CID to take steps to complete the investigation into the Avaniyapuram custodial death case by January 2022.
A division bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and justice M Duraiswamy asked the agency to expedite the investigation, after the state informed the court that the CB-CID probe was still underway in this case.
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday directed the CB-CID to expedite the probe in Avaniapuram custodial death case.
A Division Bench of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice M. Duraiswamy directed the CB-CID to complete the probe by the end of January 2022. The State informed the court, which was hearing the case suo motu after the father of the victim withdrew his petition, that the probe was yet to be completed.
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Sub-Collector of Thoothukudi not to pass any final orders pursuant to the proceedings initiated against anti-Sterlite protesters under Sections 107 and 111 of the CrPC.
